EPALE promotes Latch-On in Europe

with No Comments

Exciting news! EPALE (ePlatform for Adult Learning in Europe) is now featuring the Latch-On program in Europe as a literacy program for adults with intellectual disabilities. Latch-On can be found under the following themes of the platform: social inclusion, literacy concepts and modes of delivery, professional development of basic skills teachers.

EPALE is a multilingual open membership community for teachers, trainers, researchers, academics, policy makers and anyone else with a professional role in adult learning across Europe. This wonderful initiative is funded by the European Commission who provides ongoing commitment to improving the quality of adult learning provision in Europe.

EPALE’s goal is to boost European literacy. The website has just been launched and is for anyone involved in adult learning across Europe. So far there have been many articles, resources and discussions taking place.

The platform focuses around 5 key themes important to the adult learning sector:

  • Learner support
  • Learning environments
  • Life skills
  • Policy
  • Quality

It is an honour to be featured on their brand-new website and to see that Latch-On fits neatly in their agenda and platform.

Community first

We were pleased to learn that community is at the heart of EPALE, just like it is for Latch-On. We strive on building communities of practice for lifelong learning.

Down Syndrome Ireland – our first European community of practice – has had an amazing success delivering the program and offers Latch-On in over 13 teaching sites.
